About Anglia Ruskin:
As a modern, vibrant University Anglia Ruskin is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally. We have ambitious plans for the future, and we are determined that our students and staff will realise their full potential. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investment. With an annual turnover of over £200m, we are a major force for higher education and one of the largest universities in the East of England.
Cambridge School of Art is one of 3 Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at ARU— a hub of creative innovation with a diverse and energetic learning community and research culture. In collaboration with Cambridge School of Creative Industries and the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, we work with partners in the creative and cultural industries to enrich the cultural life of our students, our University, and local communities.
About the role:
We are now looking to appoint 2 ambitious individuals as Deputy Heads of School. You will have a background in research and/or practice in a relevant area of art, design or media and contribute to first class teaching, research and/or enterprise activities. You will provide leadership in a key area appropriate to your skills, experience, and professional ambition (Teaching & Learning or External Engagement and Enterprise) to support Faculty and University strategy. In addition you’ll be responsible for supporting the Head of Cambridge School of Art in planning and managing resources and staff related activities, with operational oversight of a discipline group, providing practical management solutions to day to day issues, monitoring quality assurance activities, enhancing the student experience and personally contributing to teaching and research.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of the future of Cambridge School of Art and to ARU’s aim to transform lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. We offer a range of courses across art and design from UG to PGR, organised in 2 discipline groups: Art & Design (Fashion, Fine Art, Interior Design, Photography) and Visual Communication (Digital Media, Graphic Design, Illustration, and Animation). You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and work with colleagues to provide strong leadership in support of our vision. With an emerging or established research reputation and/or extensive industry experience and record of learning and teaching or external engagement and enterprise, you will contribute to our thriving research and innovation culture, and to ARU’s ambitions for creative practice.
Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Sally Wade, PVC & Dean, Faculty of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences. Contact Clare Bacchus firstname.lastname@example.org
