We are seeking an experienced Immigration Advice and Compliance Manager to lead our busy immigration advice and compliance team, managed within BU’s Student Services.  This postholder will be the primary expert at Bournemouth University on all matters relating to compliance with the UK Immigration Regulations applying to student visas and the Highly Trusted Sponsor status of the university.

The successful candidate will have a high level of expertise and experience of student immigration advice and compliance matters and will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the activities of the Immigration Advice & Compliance Team at Bournemouth University, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate and effective advice and guidance to staff and students on Home Office and BU requirements for student immigration compliance.  The postholder is also responsible for monitoring and reporting of student activity in line with Home Office requirements and for the management and oversight of BU’s administration compliance responsibilities relating to the USA Federal Loans and Veterans Affairs funding.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has excellent analytical and decision-making skills and who is an excellent negotiator and communicator who will be expected to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the university as well as within the recognized sector networks and managing the University’s relationship with Home Office contacts.

Staff are expected to work occasional evening and weekends to support specific activities such as arrivals periods for new students. This post is primarily located at our Talbot Campus however the postholder may also be required to work at our Lansdowne Campus. Please note that whilst we have been working in Covid restrictions, our staff are mainly working from home and we will be extending this into the autumn term with a trial period for the autumn term of a hybrid working model split between on-campus and at home working.
