JOB OVERVIEW

Coventry University London International Study Centre is looking for a Progression Support Coordinator to provide progression support and advice to students with the purpose of maximising student outcomes, achievement and satisfaction levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Academic Support and attendance

  • Support students to maximise their chances of automatically progressing to the degree course of their choice whilst ensuring the best possible student experience and achievement.
  • Provide personal tutorage support cover to students throughout the semester.
  • Gather student information from Personal Tutors on a weekly basis to establish ways of supporting students.
  • Meet with the Welfare Officer a minimum of once a week to discuss students with poor attendance and any students who may require additional support through attendance, behavioural, welfare and fitness to study issues.
  • Meet with students who have poor attendance at Stage 2 and 3 liaising with Academic Tutors and the Head of AES and updating their support plans as required.
  • Support Personal Tutors with delivering information to students, monitoring attendance proactively and feeding back RPAG data.
  • Ensure that students are referred to appropriate Study Group, University or external services where appropriate and necessary.
  • Monitor RPAG data on a weekly basis and meet with students who are at risk of not automatically progressing.
  • Communicate with non-progressed students as directed by Team Leader

Transition and Student Voice

  • Support the Professional Services Manager and Welfare Officer in organising events e.g. university activities, transition events, guest lectures and workshops for student development.
  • Support Professional Services Manager to formalise and organise Student Rep training, ensuring a bank of students is available as and when required
  • Attend Student Council and Follow Up Meetings and ensure record and complete actions in Tracker 
  • Ensure effective interaction with Alumni, facilitating involvement of students.

Welcome Week and Social Activities

  • Support registration of students and completion of check list
  • Support student ambassadors
  • Support Welfare Officer  in organising social activities and student led activities to include Progression Award Ceremony and trips to the university partner institution

General Duties

  • To support Professional Services Manager from time to time with tasks related to the effective running of the ISC.
  • To support and coach colleagues in the correct application of Study Group processes and procedures.

EXPERIENCE

  • Level 4 Qualification desirable
  • Experience and knowledge of providing academic and/or pastoral support to international/ ESL students.
  • Experience of building build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues
  • Experience of using data and reporting systems
  • Experience of being able to time manage with the ability to prioritise work, forward think and plan
  • Experience of organising events/activities/projects
