The post is available from 20/09/2021 for a fixed-term period until the 31/12/2023 within the business school – Sustainable Futures Department to support the ARCA project and is part of a project involving the University of Exeter. It is funded through the European Social Fund and forms part of the European Strategic Investment Framework for Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly.
The Business School in Cornwall wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant or Research Fellow to participate in the Accelerating Circular Skills for Cornwall and the Ise of Scilly ARCA project, which focusses on exploring the requirements, in terms of corporate skills and capability, for the region to develop Circular Economy practices and launch Circular Innovations.
The successful applicant will work within the Business School – Sustainable Futures Department and will work closely with the project’s impact and project management function, which is housed in the University Innovation, Impact and Business Directorate.
The post will include dissemination activities to increase awareness of these technologies towards citizen target groups, neighbourhood organizations and companies; research institutions and the local and regional public authorities through workshops and event initiation.
As a Graduate Research Assistant, the successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
For a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, the successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be near completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in Marine Technological Business Innovation and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
