We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer in Architectural History and Theory to join our Architecture portfolio in the School of Design at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, University of Greenwich in London.

The Architecture programmes within the School of Design at the University of Greenwich are renowned for delivering outstanding design, theory, and technology teaching in the award-winning Stockwell Street building. Our campus is located within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring the historic estate of buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren for the Old Royal Naval College, connecting the present through 500 years of history to the Tudor Palace of Henry VIII. 

The Architecture team is composed of leading practitioners from across London and widely published research active academics. Students have received international recognition receiving awards from the RIBA at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The programmes have unique relationships with industry employers, creating work experience opportunities for students and graduates. The School of Design is part of a highly successful and vibrant faculty. 

The successful candidate will be an inspirational Architectural Historian and Theoretician have energy and passion as an inspirational teacher, able to work well across multidisciplinary teams. They will also have the excitement to seek out interdisciplinary opportunities both within the UoG and externally, and to agent, cultivate and engage with established and new networks. To compliment the current team’s academic portfolio.

Most of the vacancy’s duties will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including online and face-to-face lectures, seminars, tutorial, and the like; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students, including supervising undergraduate and /or postgraduate dissertations. The post holder will take on the responsibility of Module Leadership, undertaking the associated administration and quality assurance related to the delivery of specified modules. The successful candidate will contribute high quality research in the field of Architecture; Supervise PhD’s; Participate in the School research staff mentoring programme; Contribute to the School public engagement, network, and international profile.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely and professionally with students and staff members at all levels. The ideal candidate will have:

    the primary purpose of this role is to develop, deliver and administer Architectural History and Theory or other related to JD discipline

    holding a PhD qualification in a related subject area or equivalent demonstrated through practice

    experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, assessment, and student feedback

    experience of the associated administrative and quality requirements

    knowledge and experience research and enterprise activities

    excellent communication skills
