Summary of Role 

Kaplan Open Learning is an online programme management (OPM) provider that works in partnership with the University of Essex and the University of Liverpool to deliver 100% online courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We have two partnership brands, trading as the University of Essex Online and the University of Liverpool Online Programmes.  

Since 2007, we’ve been partnered with the University of Essex, an award-winning university with a 50-year heritage, to provide high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate online courses. University of Essex Online achieved an outstanding 95% student satisfaction rating in the recent National Student Survey (NSS 2021), which places us at the top for overall student satisfaction compared with other UK universities, well above the national average of 75%. 

In 2019, we announced a new partnership with the University of Liverpool, a member of the Russell Group and one of Europe’s leading online providers. Earlier this year, we launched a range of exciting online postgraduate degrees, and we’re continuing to expand our portfolio of programmes.  

We are seeking to recruit for more than one position to join our Marketing team for each partnership brand. 

As a Marketing Executive, you will:

  • Play an essential role in developing and managing a range of online marketing campaigns and activities, including email marketing, content marketing, SEO, CRM marketing, management of the company’s website(s), market research and events coordination. 
  • Take on the responsibility of proofreading and producing clear, compelling content in accordance with brand guidelines. 
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of institution-wide marketing activities to key audiences.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Produce clear, engaging content aimed at global audiences that follows brand guidelines 
  • Proofread and edit content produced by other members of the team 
  • Create and coordinate email marketing campaigns 
  • Utilise a CRM software to create and optimise student communications and experiences 
  • Manage the company website(s) and produce SEO content to improve organic visibility 
  • Update and maintain course listings’ content on third-party websites  
  • Conduct market research and competitor research and identify digital marketing trends 
  • Support organisation of webinars and events 
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of institution-wide marketing activities to key audiences 
  • Any other duties as may be required 

Qualifications and Skills Essential: 

  • An undergraduate degree 
  • Experience in digital marketing 
  • Solid copy writing, editing and proofreading skills with perfect command of the English language 
  • Strong understanding of SEO 
  • Commercially minded and able to produce successful digital campaigns in accordance with brand guidelines 
  • Experience in email marketing (using Dotdigital or similar platform) 
  • Experience with CRM marketing (using Salesforce or similar platform) 
  • Experience of website management and updates, including a solid understanding of WordPress 
  • Highly organised and capable of achieving marketing goals 
  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders across the internal and external organisations 
  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Strong research and analytical skills 
  • Adept at working on own initiative to plan, prioritise and deliver results 
  • Ability to analyse and report results, then optimise activities 

Desirable: 

  • Experience using Google Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Formstack (or a similar platform) 
  • A degree in marketing or CIM qualification would be beneficial 
  • Knowledge or experience of the UK and international higher education sector
