We seek to appoint a full-time Research Associate to work on an ambitious research programme funded by the NIHR titled “Using real world data and rapid learning to drive improvements in lung cancer survival”. The programme has been designed to investigate and establish, for the first time in the radiotherapy clinic, the use of ‘rapid learning’ with routinely collected ‘real-world’ data to quickly introduce, evaluate and iteratively optimize changes in care as part of normal practice.

The programme will be delivered by a large multi-disciplinary team including expertise in lung cancer and radiotherapy physics, ethics, law, health economics, statistical methodology, implementation science and patient/public involvement.

You will design, conduct and analyse qualitative research including a citizens’ jury on the views and attitudes of stakeholders (patients, citizens and professionals) towards the use of rapid learning approaches to optimise changes in radiotherapy practice to improve patient outcomes in oncology. You will integrate this with legal and ethical analysis of the research ethics and other challenges a rapid learning approach raises. You are also required to assist in the administrative elements of the project, as well as providing support for stakeholder engagement, workshops and other events.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
