Role

We are seeking to appoint an aspiring individual to join the Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery as a Practice Lead and support some teaching within nursing. The role of Practice Lead is an exciting addition to the School’s practice support team as part of the plans to develop and embed the cultural changes as part of the implementation of the NMC practice standards. This is an opportunity for a practitioner who wants to develop a role that works in partnership and spans both clinical practices learning environments and academic settings.

You will join a friendly team, who are committed to enabling students to develop into competent and skilled practitioners. You will work closely with the Director of Practice and two Practice leads and will be responsible for the monitoring and development of the quality of the practice learning environment in partnership with academic and practice colleagues. As a Practice Lead you will work with the academic team that supports the learning environments for students in clinical practice.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a graduate with current level 1 NMC registration with evidence of active professional development and experience in supporting and assessing students in practice. You will contribute to teaching that is relevant to students practice experiences within your area of expertise across undergraduate programs to students from a wide range of backgrounds. You will contribute to the practice assessment process for students; individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with University quality assurance processes.

Having excellent communication skills and be able to network and negotiate with clinical colleagues and a variety of stakeholders is critical to this role. The role will involve travel to placement and other meeting locations across the region. You will support students, practice supervisors and academic and practice assessors in clinical placements across a variety of care settings.

Expectations to actively engage in scholarship, research and professional / external income generation activities in ways that contribute to the University / School’s objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading edge teaching will also be included.
