This post is based within the School of Allied Health and Social care, one of three Schools within the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care. Our school embraces the professions associated with Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging and Social and Community Studies. You will join the discipline of Diagnostics and Clinical interventions; a very experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic group of academics and professionals who work with students to ensure they have a positive experience as a student and prepare them for their chosen profession in the best possible way. However, you will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines within the College.
About the Role
You will join our team of enthusiastic, committed and friendly staff who deliver innovative teaching within our BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice degree apprenticeship programme. This programme, which has an innovative online delivery model; has recently been revalidated and received approval from the College of Operating Department Practice. Alongside the online delivery, learners attend the university site to undertake innovative skills weeks using our extensive simulation facilities. It is an exciting time to join this developing team to help shape operating department practice education within the University of Derby.
You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of teaching in accordance with the university’s strategic objectives in order to provide an exceptional student experience. You will work with the programme teams and Head of Discipline to ensure that curriculum development, quality management and enhancement comply with required standards and will also guarantee that research informs and inspires an evidence led curriculum and teaching.
About You
We are looking for an experienced operating department practitioner or nurse who has demonstrable experience within the perioperative environment. You must hold a BSc (Hons) in operating department practice or an equivalent qualification with experience in a relevant field/discipline and must be registered with the HCPC or NMC.
You’ll bring excellent teamwork and communication skills, along with a commitment to sharing your knowledge in innovative and engaging ways. As an educator, you'll understand the value of an outstanding student experience and be driven to create transformative, practice-informed learning environments.
