The Faculty of Business and Law brings together MMU Business School and Manchester Law School in our award-winning building located in the centre of Manchester. We have supported industry and commerce in the city since 1889; today we offer undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees, together with professional qualifications, many recognised by industry associations.
Home to 10000 students, the Faculty is one of the largest and most popular in the UK. Research firmly underpins the curriculum and our strong external focus ensures that the research we do is transferable and supports industry and commerce locally, nationally and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and expanding team providing high quality programmes, knowledge exchange and research. https://www.mmu.ac.uk/business-school/business/sme-support/ is nationally recognised for its work with small and large firms as well as with social enterprises. The team is professorially led; research underpinned and provides a range of short and long programmes focused on leadership, growth, business development, business management and entrepreneurship. It is a fast paced, dynamic and commercially focussed environment.
The role will primarily involve undertaking summative and formative evaluation of ERDF funded SME programmes and developing new research opportunities in the work in small enterprise platform area. Researchers will have a background in entrepreneurship studies and/or growth and innovation and contribute to the development of research that aligns with the Work in Small Enterprise knowledge platform within the Decent Work and Productivity Research Centre. Research interests aligned with one or more of the following research areas would be advantageous: innovation, management and organisation; leadership at work; knowledge, growth mindset; project management and inter-organisational collaboration; professionals and professionalization; technology and work organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to work with some of the best business and social entrepreneurs in the region and beyond. You will be working alongside a successful academic entrepreneurship team that use their research and knowledge in a commercially driven environment. In the Faculty of Business and Law, you will be based in the Business School building in the heart of the knowledge corridor in central Manchester.
