The Wheeler Institute for Business and Development at London Business School (LBS) is seeking to appoint up to three full-time Research Assistants to work closely with leading faculty in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management Science and Operations, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour or Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School. 

Successful candidates will support LBS faculty and the scope of work will depend on the nature of the research project and the subject area. Our Pre-Doctoral Research Assistants will be invited to take PhD courses, attend workshops and seminars, and access the rich intellectual and cultural campus life of LBS.

This programme aims to provide excellent preparation for recent or imminent postgraduates seeking to apply to high-level doctoral studies. It is well-suited for those individuals interested in pursuing rigorous research at the intersection of business and development, with a particular focus on developing countries.

What kind of person we are looking for

  • ¡ Outstanding academic background, including recent or imminent completion of a postgraduate degree (such as MA, MS, MSc, MRes, MPhil, MBA or equivalent – first class honours students will be considered competitive)
  • ¡ Strong interest in business research for development
  • ¡ Desire to create a ‘real world’ impact
  • ¡ Excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • ¡ Communication, curiosity and strong attention to detail
  • ¡ Knowledge of software such as R, Matlab, Python or Stata
  • ¡ Successful GRE/GMAT prior to commencing the role is desirable

What does this programme involve?

Responsibilities may include:

  • ¡ Supporting statistical data analysis and assisting with dissemination of results through journal publications, presentations, blogs etc.
  • ¡ Collecting and organising data-sets as well as preparing and documenting the analysis process
  • ¡ Conducting literature reviews to support research projects
  • ¡ Pro-actively engaging with faculty on research ideas
  • ¡ Coordinating field research in developing countries
