Job description

We are seeking to recruit a social science scholar with interests in the global dimensions of education to contribute to teaching and programme administration on our MA Education suite of programmes and other programmes as required. They will also undertake doctoral supervision and conduct high quality research.

The successful candidate will have expertise in, or that can be applied to, international and comparative education, education and international development, education in a global context and/or intercultural education. Expertise relating to school leadership and management will be particularly welcome but is not essential.

The successful candidate will also have a track record of producing high quality research publications, proven teaching ability, an interest in, and aptitude for, communication across disciplines, strong communication, organisational and teamworking skills, and a commitment to inclusive and democratic ways of working. They will be a member of the friendly and vibrant Centre for Public Policy Research within the School of Education, Communication and Society, which is a School in the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time  post.

Key responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the academic life and culture of the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) and the wider School by:

  • Contributing to teaching, module coordination, and programme administration on the MA Education suite of programmes, and other programmes as required. This is likely to include coordinating and/or contributing to some or all of the following modules:  ‘International and Comparative Education’, ‘Education and International Development’, ‘Intercultural Education and International Schools’, ‘Leadership and Management in International Schools’, and ‘Research Methods for International Education’
  • Acting as Personal Tutor to students and supervising student dissertations.
  • Enhancing the research profile of CPPR through a portfolio of high quality publications, funded research and knowledge exchange
  • Recruiting and supervising MPhil/PhD students in their specialist research area
  • Promoting and marketing the work of the School
  • Contributing to the smooth running of the School by taking on organisational responsibilities as directed by the Head of School
