Lecturer in Translation (English to Chinese) The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8.
CenTraS is a major centre for translation studies, with a sizeable student body and a vibrant research culture. CenTraS is home to two Master’s programmes in Translation, which attract a large cohort of some 80-100 students per year, as well as a thriving community of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. We are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Translation (English to Chinese) to teach approximately 130 contact hours per academic year. The post-holder will be required to set, mark and assess work completed for the modules they teach, and to assist in the examination of related and other modules at the discretion of the Director of CenTraS / Head of Department. They will also be required to hold regular tutorial hours, to participate in departmental activities and events, and contribute to the intellectual life of the department. The successful candidate is expected to take up the position on 1 September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This role is open ended.
The successful post-holder will have completed a PhD or equivalent in an appropriate subject area and have experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Audiovisual Translation and/or Translation Technology, in the language combination English – Simplified Chinese. The post-holder will have a proven record of and commitment to high quality research, and will contribute actively to our research profile through further publications
