We are now looking for a Lecturer in Manufacturing and Production Engineering to join our Swansea campus on a full time , permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE –
You will be required to devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas. The post holder will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study. The post holder will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. The post holder will, if required, undertake scholarship, industrial engagement, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Academic Discipline, Institute and University. The post holder will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.


- ABOUT YOU -
To be considered as a Lecturer in Lecturer in Manufacturing and Production Engineering, you will need:

  • - An honours degree in a relevant discipline
  • - A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • - A teaching qualification or the willingness to undertake one.
  • - Evidence of good organisational and personal management skills
  • - Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • - IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery
  • - Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of administrative demands and deadlines
  • - An appetite to embrace the application of new and emerging digitalization / industry 4.0 technologies.

It would also be beneficial if you had a:

  • - A PhD/DBA in a relevant discipline
  • - Membership of a relevant professional body or teaching qualification
  • - Experience of supervising postgraduate and research students
  • - Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level in relevant subject area
  • - Experience in the design and development of module content
  • - Industrial experience within the field of manufacturing
  • - Knowledge and experience of new and emerging digitalization / Industry 4.0 technologies and their application in manufacturing / production environments e.g. cobots, automation, smart sensors, networked systems, vision systems, machine learning etc.
  • - Experience of applying productivity improvement and/or quality enhancement methodologies within industrial contexts e.g. Lean, Kaizen.
  • - Knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles and the relationship which design has on production costs and quality.
  • - Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh – written and oral
