Do you have recent experience in student-centred teaching and assessment associated with preparing students for university study?

Are you practiced in assessment development and creation, and aware of the challenges faced in teaching and assessment on Foundation courses?

Created to support recent expansion of our student cohort, this new post in our International Programmes department could be a great opportunity for you to take your career to the next level.

The role will see you working with the Programme Manager/ Director of Studies to maintain a coherent and consistent standard and quality on our courses, with a particular focus on assessment.

This post is full-time and fixed term to 31 July 2023.

As Assistant Programme Manager, you can expect to get involved in the following:

  • guiding Foundation Tutors in the areas of marking and moderating coursework and exams, design and use of assessment tasks and marking criteria and design and use of VLE pages
  • supporting the Programme Manager (IFP) with staff and student induction events and Tutor training, focusing on assessment and academic discipline
  • ensuring all teaching complies with standards and associated administrative tasks are completed on time, to contribute to a high quality student experience
  • convening and/or teaching on modules across our provision, as required

What you will bring to the role:

  • a postgraduate degree associated with English language teaching, (Applied) Linguistics or one of the subjects taught at Foundation level, or extensive experience in the application of teaching skills in the context of Foundation courses
  • experience and understanding of student academic support in a university context
  • experience of materials development and assessment creation, convenorship and teaching at Foundation level
  • confident and professional communication skills and a strong awareness of equal opportunities and intercultural personal differences
