Do you have substantial experience gained from working within an engineering development environment?
Could you provide guidance and supervision to the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) users in the development of new experimental test procedures and fabrication of specialised experimental apparatus and tooling?
WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick, with a state of the art Battery Testing and Characterisation Laboratory, based in our Energy Innovation Centre (EIC), and additional facilities based at Wellesbourne. Activities conducted in the laboratories involve high energy batteries e.g., Lithium-ion cells and very high voltage, high power battery systems. Ideally, we are looking for Technicians who are trained as ‘Senior Authorised Person’ and authorised to act as ‘Person in Charge’ for high voltage ‘live working’ activities (as defined in the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989), but this training can be given if required.
The ideal candidates will have extensive skills in the use of specialist equipment (such as Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy test equipment, battery cyclers, battery testing/conditioning, thermal imaging, fitting, fabrication, tab welding, soldering etc). These roles will have their time split between Warwick campus and Wellesbourne.
In return, we can offer a stimulating interesting work environment, as well of the benefits of working within a highly regarded organisation.
We will provide a great range of benefits which include an attractive pension scheme, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas closure, some fantastic savings on a wide range of products and services, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
At WMG we are committed to supporting staff to achieve their potential. We currently hold the Athena SWAN Silver Award and the University of Warwick holds an Institutional Silver Award: a national initiative that recognizes the advancement of gender equality, representation, progression and success for all in academia. We are supportive of staff with caring responsibilities including a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, and onsite childcare facilities. We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
Interview Date: TBC.
