LSBU’s NIHR funded PHIRST South Bank Centre (Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Team) is looking to recruit a Research Fellow to support the delivery of a programme of evaluation projects across the UK. This is one of six UK Centres that have been commissioned to work alongside local governments to co-produce and conduct public health research of existing or planned interventions. The Centre presents an exciting opportunity to produce robust evidence to inform future public health policy-making and commissioning decisions both locally and nationally.
The postholder will have a sound knowledge of a range of research and evaluation techniques and methodologies (including both qualitative and quantitative) suitable for evaluating complex public health interventions. A knowledge of public health priorities and delivery mechanisms across the UK would be an advantage and good interpersonal and communication skills will be essential.
Exciting work you will do
You will work as part of our PHIRST South Bank Centre team and alongside academics from across the University. The role will support the Principal Investigator, Evaluation Manager and a team of academics from across the University in assessing the evaluability of projects, and delivery of research activities including literature reviews, writing ethics proposals, recruitment and management of participants, data analysis, report writing and journal article preparation and submission.
The candidate will have a PhD (or about to be awarded) in a relevant discipline (public health, health psychology, health promotion or other appropriate life sciences subject) or equivalent professional qualifications or experience.
We welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community in our desire to reflect the diversity of the community we serve.
