Social Media Content Producer

University of Surrey - Communications and PR

Location: Guildford
Salary: £34,308 to £42,155
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 16th January 2023
Closes: 12th February 2023
Job Ref: 002623

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about producing content to grow their career in our communications team. Our social media channels will be your baby to own and develop with freedom, and will provide you with lots of creative opportunities to shape the look at feel of new and emerging channels in their infancy.

We are a global community of staff and students, working and learning in an inspiring, innovative and diverse environment to make a positive impact through education and research. We have a bold vision of what we want to achieve through the talents and endeavour of every employee so your work will make a real, impactful difference.

On top of this, you’ll be rewarded with a generous pension, flexible working options including job share and blended home/campus working locations (dependent on work duties). There is also access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes and supportive family friendly benefits including our Bright Horizons on-site workplace nursery, which has an excellent 91% parent satisfaction score.

You will create engaging and strategic content plans that align with the University’s Social Media Strategy and are tailored for our different corporate social media channels, along with independently filming, streaming or photographing new and engaging content, and then further editing and publishing to social channels, including graphics and animations as well as coordinating channel takeovers. This role has a key part to play in maintaining and growing the University's social media presence across multiple brand outposts (which include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn). You will also be expected to proactively plan content in advance as well as respond to ad hoc opportunities, and manage relationships with a growing pool of social media ambassadors and coordinate content production.

We are looking for you to show us significant experience in photography and videography content production in a social media role – from conceptualising ideas and producing content to editing professional packages that can be published across our public channels. You will be highly skilled at using content generation tools (e.g. Canva, Wotchit, Adobe Suite inc. Photoshop) to create ‘thumb-stopping’ content that resonates and triggers engagement among our audiences, plus experience of commissioning designers to produce quality content suitable for audience and platform. In addition, you will have strong communication skills and be an effective collaborator, networker, relationship builder and trusted advisor to stakeholders.

We aim to attract the best possible talent from the broadest range of people and continue to improve the number of staff from groups that are under-represented across our workforce. We provide an inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for all and value everyone in our community. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities. We are proud to hold the Race Equality Charter, Athena Swan Charter, Disability Confident, Accessible and UK Workplace Equality Index.

Please apply by submitting a covering letter and full CV online today.
