The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Latin. The primary purpose of this post is to consolidate and expand teaching provision, and to broaden the scope of research, in the areas of Latin language, literature and culture. Applicants should have a research specialism in any aspect of Latin language and literature, and demonstrable interests in widening and diversifying access to Latin and in public humanities. The successful applicant will be expected to co-ordinate and teach undergraduate modules in Latin language and literature, and to offer advanced undergraduate and postgraduate (MPhil) modules relating to their areas of research. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the School’s interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programmes.
The Department requires a candidate to take a lead role in the extended provision of Latin in College, such as the Trinity Elective Latin: One Language, Many Cultures, and provision of Latin training for researchers in cognate areas in the Humanities.
