The University of Westminster Legal Advice Clinic, part of the Law School, is seeking to recruit a Lecturer and supervising caseworker, to conduct casework and supervise students involved in our acclaimed Windrush Justice Clinic. Relevant professional experience and qualification as a legal practitioner (solicitor, barrister, or OISC accredited caseworker) practising in immigration law, is therefore important.
We are looking for someone committed and approachable who can help develop this important project, liaise with our Windrush Justice Clinic external partners and conduct associated policy and research work. There will also likely be opportunities to teach across the Law School, depending on expertise.
The University of Westminster Legal Advice Clinic is a busy clinic offering a variety of student-led legal services to members of the public and the local community. We offer advice in the areas of employment, housing, family and immigration law as well as the Windrush Justice Clinic project. The Clinic is staffed by the Director, 3 administrative support staff and 8 part time visiting lecturers. During an average academic year, we advise over 100 clients and approximately 150 law students can be involved in the Clinic at any one time. Some students are assessed on their work in the Clinic as part of their course. The Windrush Justice Clinic is an award-winning project run across a network of organisations. The WJC at the University of Westminster advises and assists members of the public with their compensation claims. Students work on cases under supervision.
If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Anna Steiner (interim Legal Advice Clinic Director) on: a.steiner1@westminster.ac.uk
