The School of Science and Engineering delivers research and teaching across Anatomy & Human Identification, Computing, Engineering (Biomedical, Civil, and Mechanical & Electronic), Forensic Sciences, Mathematics and Physics.

The School benefits from superb research infrastructure and substantial opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration through which we deliver impactful knowledge-transfer and translational activities with industries (local and global) and with social ecosystems, including the judiciary and, through assistive technology, people with disabilities and the elderly population.

We are seeking to appoint a fixed-term lecturer to develop and deliver teaching across undergraduate IT Graduate Apprenticeship programmes.

All new appointees are expected to contribute to enhancing the student experience and to support cross-disciplinary learning and teaching initiatives, as well as knowledge-transfer, outreach and public-engagement activities, and general administrative duties. Furthermore, the appointee would be expected to contribute where required to School and University initiatives for the development of mathematical training for the wider student body.

Your priorities will include:

  • Carry out teaching and supervision for students on the Graduate Apprenticeship Programmes, including contributing to curriculum design, enhancement of the student learning experience, and scholarship
  • Support and assess learning objectives achieved in the workplace, acting closely with the Graduate Apprentice's employer
  • Contribute to the development of the Graduate Apprenticeship programme at the University
  • Work with industry to continually develop the Graduate Apprenticeship and attract new industrial partners
  • Establish collaborations with industrial collaborators to start knowledge exchange partnerships (KTPs)

Who we're looking for:

  • Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level
  • Clear evidence of learning and teaching competence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
  • Evidence of effective team membership
  • Clear evidence of excellence in learning and teaching or in mentoring staff to professional qualifications in the workplace
