We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Head of Governance Services to provide leadership and support on all matters concerning the management, governance, and effective operation of services for the University’s central boards and committees.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Deputy Head of Governance Services will support the Head of Governance Services in leading the Governance Services team to ensure the management and effective operation of services for the University’s central boards and committees, including services to the Boards of Directors of the subsidiary companies within the University of Hertfordshire Group.
The postholder will ensure the maintenance of all related governance documentation and records, the provision of advice and the promotion and training of good practice in all aspects of committee work across the institution.
The post holder must maintain a clear understanding of the whole spectrum of the work of the University and its wholly owned subsidiary companies, including funding, learning and teaching, research, staffing, and administration.
Skills and experience needed
The successful candidate should be able to evidence extensive experience in clerking and servicing boards and committees at the highest level of an organisation. You will have excellent proven people management experience to lead a highly skilled and professional governance services department.
It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with staff at a senior level and internal and external stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills to drive and promote good practice within the University’s governance structures.
Qualifications required
Minimum of a degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification), or higher qualification or significant appropriate equivalent experience.
