Do you have a strong interest in how best to make a positive difference to the lives of people and communities?
The NCCPE is looking for an experienced project manager to design and lead an England-wide Civic Engagement Learning Programme. Funded by Research England, this programme involves teams from 12 or more different universities and is one of four workstreams under the ‘National Civic Impact Accelerator’ (NCIA). As well as working alongside the NCCPE team, you will need to work closely with a team of researchers and project managers based at Sheffield Hallam University and the Institute for Community Studies, who are curating an evidence base of ‘what works’ in civic engagement.
This is a part-time, fixed-term post for 2 years, working 22.5 hours per week.
You will be supported by the wider NCCPE team, including the NCCPE Communications Lead, Team Assistant and Assistant Operations Manager.
About the NCCPE:
The National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) seeks to support culture change in the UK higher education (HE) sector. Our mission is to help universities to create social value through increasing the quality and impact of their public engagement activity. We do this by supporting excellent public engagement practice; creating the conditions for public engagement to thrive in universities; and building strong networks and partnerships to amplify our impact.
The NCCPE is an agile and creative organisation, funded by UK Research and Innovation, Research England, Wellcome, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. Scottish Funding Council and the Department for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland. The Centre is jointly hosted by University of the West of England (UWE) and University of Bristol (UoB), benefitting from being part of two vibrant universities.
This role is being recruited through UWE Bristol.
About you:
We are looking for a colleague who brings a breadth and depth of experience of project and operations management and management of budgets (over £40K p/a) with excellent project management skills.
Ideally, you will have specialist knowledge and expertise relevant to the Civic Impact Accelerator programme, including managing and facilitating networks; developing communication activity; and managing client relationships. You may have existing experience of working at the interface of Higher Education and local communities and an understanding of public and civic engagement practice, research, policies, and funding with reference to HE. However, we welcome applications from experienced project managers from a range of backgrounds, organisations, and sectors.
You will have experience of creating training and development / CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programmes and using a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage participants in learning and personal development.
You will also have experience of analysing and interpreting data, drafting complex reports, and delivering briefings to others, with the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and with attention to detail. Plus excellent IT skills.
Above all, you will need excellent people management and communication skills including the ability to gain trust, influence, network effectively and establish personal credibility at all levels.
