Job Summary
As Executive Assistant to Professor the Lord Darzi, this prestigious post will provide the highest standard of administrative and secretarial support, working within the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI), together with interaction across College, and with a variety of key external stakeholders.
This is an outstanding opening for someone with strong organisational, communications and systems capabilities coming from a PA/Admin background with several years of experience.
This is an exciting opportunity and the post works in tandem with a Global Health Administrator/Personal Assistant (PA) to provide high level support across Professor Darzi’s clinical, academic, research and parliamentary roles. Given Professor Darzi’s profile and reach, this high functioning appointment will require diplomatic and insightful communication skills to be able to deal effectively with complex situations and work with a wide range of contacts.
Confidentiality, diary scheduling, the ability to draft correspondence, and liaise effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders both in the UK and internationally, are all key requirements.
The role gives exposure to thinking at senior level within the health, education and science sectors and provides an excellent opportunity for career development and personal growth.
Duties and responsibilities
You will work closely with Professor Darzi and his core IGHI team together with senior staff and Faculty across the College to manage his diary and act as a first point of contact within his busy Private Office, ensuring the smooth and professional running of a diverse range of activities and administrative tasks.
You will be involved in supporting internal and externally run events, speaking engagements, including liaison with external bodies, organising travel and accommodation and the timely processing of expense claims.
You will be responsible for drafting correspondence and overseeing the management of the data and filing systems for all aspects of his private office (e.g., clinical, academic, House of Lords, international).
Essential requirements
You will be able to demonstrate evidence of having worked at senior PA or Executive Assistant level and will have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be self-motivated and clearly able to prioritise and manage a varied and busy workload and operate as part of a team.
Excellent IT skills will be required including a good knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel.
