Please be aware this role is being offered on a Fixed-Term basis until 31 August 2023. 

If you enjoy the balance between providing a first class student-facing service with the challenge of juggling high-volume administrative work, this role could be ideal for you.

The principal aim of this role is to provide support in the area of student programme administration and to ensure the efficient administration of taught programmes across the Division of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. You will work alongside other professional services teams including the Student Support Office and Student Experience Team to ensure a wide range of administrative duties are fulfilled in support of learning and teaching within the Division.  

Your organisation skills and experience of managing work where priorities change frequently will be key, as will your ability to take individual responsibility for tasks in line with defined frameworks, regulations and protocols.

As Taught Programmes Assistant you will:

  • Act as a point of contact for all taught students, advising on a wide range of matters to support a positive student experience.
  • Provide a broad range of support and administrative service across all taught programmes to ensure the Division is promoting a positive student experience in line with the requirements of the University’s Codes of Practice and policies.
  • Ensure enquiries, which may be received by email/digitally/telephone and/or in person, are actioned effectively and promptly.
  • Undertake a range of duties to promote a positive student experience, including providing administrative support for Welcome Week and other student-focused events.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous clerical or administrative experience in a customer facing role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work confidently and diplomatically with people at all levels, from students to senior management.
  • Experience of using spreadsheets and databases on a regular basis (e.g. MS Office etc.)
  • Excellent customer service skills including a helpful and responsive manner with the ability to remain calm when under pressure.
