The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute (THIS) funds and undertakes research activity to provide more clarity on what works in improving healthcare, what doesn't, and why. Our highly inclusive approach combines academic rigour with the real concerns of patients and healthcare staff. We bring people together to understand problems, create shared visions, co-design solutions, and evaluate them.
THIS Institute is a fast paced, collaborative environment and we are growing. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for someone interested in a varied and diverse role. Acting as deputy to the Strategic Operations Lead on all matters relating to THIS, you will contribute to the development and delivery of strategic aims across many areas, with operational responsibility for finance and financial sustainability, management, planning and resources. You will be a flexible, motivated, highly organised individual who enjoys working closely in a team and with other team leaders across THIS Institute.
A key responsibility will be leading work on the institute's financial resources, identifying strategic funding opportunities and supporting applications, contracting, and procurement. We are looking for someone with great communication skills who is able to explain financial information and provide advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also need sound leadership skills and will manage a small team who support this area of activity.
Candidates must have a degree level education or equivalent, with proficiency in administration and financial management. Experience of report writing and the ability to plan and manage multiple priorities are essential. Excellent organisational and people management skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and keep to tight deadlines are required. You should also be confident with standard IT packages and spreadsheets.
We are looking for someone who promotes an inclusive environment, is keen to work with a variety of teams and who has a commitment to equality and diversity. Supporting a culture of continuous service improvement is also important and there will be opportunities to develop new practices such as environmentally responsible and sustainable ways of resourcing and operating the Institute.
The position is full-time, part time considered at minimum 0.8 FTE
