The Business Partnerships Office (BPO) in the Medical Sciences Division (MSD) is seeking to appoint a Business Partnerships Manager. Working with business has been highlighted as a growth area in the university’s strategic plan and this position offers an excellent opportunity to develop an exciting career at the interface of academia, business and government. Oxford university is the UK sector lead for industrial research income (£116.5m in 19/20) and the BPO are responsible for the oversight and management of several of the key university business relationships underpinning this activity.
 
The BPO performs a core function for the division by facilitating the delivery of strategic research partnerships with businesses to encourage knowledge exchange and support the translation of Oxford’s research. This involves a mixture of business development and market analysis, networking, relationship building and strategic partnership management. The work of the team is diverse, stimulating and rewarding and we perform an important role in the university’s mission of advancing medical research and delivering impact through our business partnerships.
 
In this role the post-holder will help the division to identify new opportunities for partnership with businesses and public bodies as well as supporting the management and growth of existing relationships. They will work closely with academics and clinicians from across the Medical Sciences Division and our associated NHS Trusts to identify opportunities for partnership and support strategic initiatives and research capabilities (e.g. new institutes).  Opportunities will be facilitated for the post-holder to develop strong internal and external networks with a wide range of senior stakeholders engaged in biomedical research in order to connect Oxford’s capabilities with business needs.
 
The ideal candidate will be highly scientifically literate, a fast learner with experience in external engagement and partnerships and combine strong relationship skills with a good technical knowledge of current themes in biomedical and translational health research to converse with experts in corporate, NHS and university environments.

This position is available immediately for a fixed term until 31st July 2025 in the first instance with the potential for renewal.  A blend of working from home and on-site working can be considered.
