We are seeking to appoint a Finance and Project Officer to support the financial management in the department.  This includes core departmental activity as well as supporting the pre and post award management of the departments diverse and extensive research grants and contracts portfolio. 
 
You will have the knowledge intellectual capacity, reasoning and analytical skills of a graduate or equivalent.  You will have experience of preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts, implementing financial controls and audit procedures, as well as having advanced numeracy skills with a demonstrated ability in financial management and analysis.  Experience of working with Microsoft Excel in order to create high quality reports is essential together with having a good knowledge of the use of IT with the ability to exchange information and data between a variety of office, financial and other resource management software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are expected as well as having good organisational skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently and to be able to prioritise effectively.
 
This full time permanent post is funded by the department and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QU.
 
This position is graded on the University’s Grade 6 scale, for which the salary range is £30,502 – £36,386 per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
