Ofqual has a key role in ensuring that public confidence in qualifications is secured for the future, and that qualifications have the confidence of all stakeholders. 

We are looking to recruit high calibre researchers and a data analyst to our Research, Standards and Data & Analytics teams. Research and data are at the heart of our approach to intelligent, evidence-based regulation. The work we do strengthens our regulatory decision-making, supporting our position as a credible authority by adopting innovative, critical approaches to research and business intelligence. Our research has a direct impact on education, informing approaches to the assessment and maintenance of standards in vocational and national qualifications.

For the role of Senior Research and Data Analyst, we are looking for an individual with strong quantitative and data analysis skills. You should have experience of designing, conducting and writing up research studies and statistical reports, as well as of using a range of statistical and data science methodologies. You will be happy to work independently or as part of a team, comfortable managing projects, prioritising multiple strands of work, and meeting challenging timescales. We are looking for a strong communicator, someone who is comfortable with numbers as well as ideas, enjoys learning and gives attention to quality and impact of their work.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Producing high-quality data analysis with tools such as R, including for the publication of official and national statistics.
  • Conducting cutting edge quantitative research projects in the field of assessment and qualifications. 
  • Working on new data initiatives, such as analytical pipelines, interactive visualisations, big data and open data.
  • Supporting the implementation of the organisation’s data and analytics strategy to meet stakeholder’s needs.
