The ideal candidate for this new post will be an experienced BI professional with proven data visualisation, ETL and reporting skills. Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager in ITS, the post holder will be responsible for delivering the analytical and technical aspects of Business Intelligence. Ideally you will have experience in developing SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence Reports and Universes, creating Tableau visualisations and are experienced in populating and utilising Data Warehouses. The University’s institutional data sets include student records, financial accounts, staff profile information, graduate outcomes, degree classifications, grants awarded and research impact analysis amongst many others. This data is one of our most powerful assets and over the coming months and years, projects have already and will be undertaken to enable the University to harness the data’s full potential more effectively. Some of these projects include Financial Reporting, Financial and Strategic Planning, an Institutional BI Data Portal and an Institutional Costing Tool. The University has invested in a market leading tools such as Business Objects, Tableau and IBM Planning Analytics to complement existing platforms and significantly improve the BI and Planning offering at all levels of the institution, supporting both internal and external reporting requirements. This new position has been established to ensure that the University has the necessary technical infrastructure in place to deliver shareable and engaging views of institutional data plus appropriate support and training to enable staff to conduct data analysis, predictive analytics and presentation activities using our Business Intelligence (BI) toolset. The role will also include participation in other key projects such as Data Governance and Architecture and to achieve the ultimate goal of ‘one version of the truth’.
