The Role and the Department
Dynamic and vibrant, Durham University Business School is one of Durham University’s four Faculties and is comprised of four research-intensive departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Management and Marketing. This is a new role to support the development and delivery of Executive Education programmes for external companies, including those linked to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship and Postgraduate Certificate in Senior Leadership Development.
The Learning and Teaching Co-ordinator role will involve liaison with client companies, course participants, regulatory bodies and university academic and professional services colleagues. This will include the efficient processing and reporting of data to the Digital Apprenticeship Service, in compliance with ESFA standard policies and funding regulations. It will also include liaison with course participants and the independent End Point Assessment organisation (e.g. Chartered Management Institute).
The post holder is responsible for the provision of a professional, efficient administrative service, supporting a wide range of teaching, learning and assessment activities from the point of student enrolment through to graduation. Supporting networks, committees and meetings, to prepare, record and distribute documents and communications, including minutes, if required. They will work flexibly to ensure the team functions effectively in meeting priorities, working in accordance with University and Departmental policies and procedures.
The post holder will provide support for course participants, including resolving queries and providing information on academic and welfare related issues, making referrals to other staff, teams and services where appropriate, escalating more specialist and complex queries or issues, as required.
The Learning & Teaching Coordinator will work independently, taking day to day decisions and using their experience and initiative to decide on appropriate courses of action and resolve complex problems. They will possess excellent organisational and time management skills, display initiative and flexibility, and demonstrate a commitment to customer service excellence.
