De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering quality teaching and learning, and a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience.
Faculty / Directorate
The Finance and Procurement Directorate is a central support department within the university, supporting our vision to provide high performing finance and procurement services that drive financial strength and business sustainability for DMU.
This is a really exciting time to join us! The Finance and Procurement Directorate have recently implemented a new structure which has created an opportunity for us to recruit a Tax Manager responsible for leading the Taxation team.
Role
This is an exciting role to support the university in delivering its ambitious plans to grow and diversify its activities, in particular its Trans National Education (TNE) program. In so doing, it is recognised that the associated tax implications will need to be mitigated appropriately.
Reporting to the Deputy Director (Financial Control), this role will be key in ensuring the university manages these risks and will require close collaboration with senior staff across the university as well as the university’s independent tax advisors.
Within this role, you will be required to draw upon your leadership skills to lead and manage the Taxation Team to provide clear direction to deliver corporate and local goals.
Ideal Candidate
You will be suitably qualified and experienced in direct and indirect tax, in particular relating to overseas activity where transfer pricing becomes a further consideration.
The role requires experience in working with senior stakeholders across the university and tax advisers/specialists. This will require effective communication and the ability to appropriately influence and challenge business decisions from a tax perspective.
For more information about the essential and desirable skills required for this role, please view the Job Description/Person Specification.
Benefits
You will benefit from access to the Local Government Pension scheme; 23 days annual leave plus concessionary days and Bank Holidays; career progression; employee perks that include up to 8.5 per cent off grocery shopping at Sainsbury's, Tesco, ASDA, Waitrose and M&S or at least up to 10% off package holidays through travel club; NUS discount card; free and confidential access to the Employee Assistance confidential Helpline who provide support on a range of lifestyle issues; discounted gym membership; free library memberships and the cycle to work scheme.
For role specific information or to arrange an informal conversation, please contact Alice Parker via email: talent@dmu.ac.uk.
Interviews will take place mid-March 2023.
