Corporate Responsibilities to the Home Office in regards to Sponsor Licence
Student and Academic Services has responsibility for managing City’s institution-wide for corporate compliance responsibilities to the Home Office. City has over 9000 international students, and the University is required to have in place a robust framework for managing all aspects of the Home Office requirements. Failure to adhere to the requirements results in sanction against the university including the inability to recruit students from outside the UK.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for dealing with Home Office compliance issues including developing and managing effective working relationships externally with applicants, students and senior colleagues.
Key duties:
Monitoring and supervising the development and delivery of the cross-university business process to meet the legislative and University obligations on the Point Based System.
Manage Level 1 and Level 2 users to generate, issue and update CAS numbers for international students.
To be first point of contact for admissions staff preparing CASs and to ensure that all CASs are assigned correctly and within agreed deadline.
Together with International Student Advice and Compliance Manager, prepare for internal and external audits and attend service audit meetings.
Line management of the Visa Compliance team and to deputise for the International Student Advice and Compliance Manager in their absence.
Person Specification
You will have significant knowledge of UKVI compliance and the Points Based System and a working knowledge and experience of using the Home Office Sponsor Management System.
In addition, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will have experience of working with international students in Higher Education, or similar context, managing student records using SITS and a demonstrable understanding of the complexities of student record keeping. A customer service approach is required along with the ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines.
