Permanent, Full Time Role.
Applications are invited for this unique teaching-focused post that will design and develop interventions to enhance and improve the student experience on a faculty-wide basis. We are looking for applicants with a strong vision and commitment to working creatively and collaboratively with our academic departments and students to support innovative pedagogic and learner initiatives. The postholder will represent the faculty on cross-University teaching and learning and student experience groups working closely with colleagues from across the University academy and academic support services. The Faculty encompasses academic and practitioner-based disciplines and applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the different disciplinary approaches as well as a strong track record in pedagogic practice and scholarship in their own discipline.
The post will involve working on a range of Faculty student experience initiatives including, but not exclusively the following:
(a) Leadership of the new Arts Building Student Community initiative.
(b) Leadership and support for Arts student submissions to the University’s Undergraduate Research Support Scheme.
(c) Leadership of the Study Café
(d) Leadership and support for the Arts student employability initiatives.
(e) Faculty link with the alumni support team and faculty-wide alumni activities.
(f) Co-leadership of the Faculty Digital Arts Lab and co-management of the annual Digital Arts Showcase.
(g) Co-leadership of the Student Experience Group.
(h) Co-management of the Digital Pedagogy Library.
(i) Membership of the Cultural Quarter Curators group.
The postholder will work closely with our other Director of Student Experience and Progression (Digital Arts). The use of digital technology to enhance teaching and learning and the student experience is a critical part of both DSEP roles. Your application must therefore describe your digital skills and expertise as well as providing details as to how you are actively using digital technology in your teaching and learning. The postholder will also work closely with the business partnered Arts Widening Participation Coordinator on a range of inclusive-education activities and initiatives designed to improve access and support the student lifecycle.
Current and previous holders of the Arts DSEP posts have found that these posts offer career-enhancing opportunities to be engaged in strategic initiatives at the heart of university teaching and learning. Their work has been recognised through internal and external promotions, senior roles in academic departments, leadership of the development of new courses, applications for funding and publications and much more.
