The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entitythat brings together nine partnersto create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our vibrant, interdisciplinary lab. Our research is aimed at understanding the fundamental principles of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII)-mediated transcription. To discover novel factors and mechanisms that regulate this process, we combine advanced genomics technologies, biochemistry, cell biology, genome-wide CRISPR-screening and computational tools. We offer a highly supportive, collaborative and cutting-edge research environment and a fully-funded three-year contract.
Several exciting projects are available – the successful candidate will select a project based on their interests and expertise. This includes: investigating the molecular mechanisms of several novel transcription-regulatory factors our lab has recently identified; genome-wide screens to uncover novel factors that regulate RNAPII elongation; study of RNAPII post-translational modifications.
You will possess a PhD, or be near completion of a PhD (6 -12 months) in a relevant discipline. We welcome applications from both wet-lab and dry-lab scientists.
The successful applicant will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/ Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
Working for UKRI provides a whole host of benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement (40 ½ days including bank holidays and privilege days).
