An opportunity has arisen for an Animal Sciences lecturer to provide maternity cover in the Veterinary and Animal Sciences department based at Barony campus. The department has full-time courses spanning National Certificate to Honours degree in Veterinary Nursing, Animal Care, Animal Sciences and Equine Science. The main purpose of this post is to lecture and instruct Animal Science and Biosciences students, and to provide tutor support for BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science students.

New applications are invited from highly motivated and qualified applicants with knowledge and experience in Animal Science, with a particular focus on Animal Nutrition, Animal Welfare, Research Methods, and statistical support for dissertation projects.

Key responsibilities of the role will involve:

Teaching

  • Teaching and supporting UG students, supervising projects and dissertations.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of teaching activity of high quality, reputation, and impact.
  • Continually developing approaches to teaching and learning which are innovative in the subject area and reflect best practice.
  • Participating actively in the development of subject based pedagogy and teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
  • Involvement in continuing professional development in relation to teaching and, where appropriate, related professional practices.
  • Contributing to the development of curriculum to embrace industry need.
