We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Researcher to join the Pandemic Sciences Institute working on the Pandemic Preparedness Analytical Capacity and funding Tracking programme (Pandemic PACT) within the GloPID-R Research and Policy team.
This is an exciting new role within an established and rapidly expanding team. You will provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, interns, PhD students, and/or project volunteers. You will be at the centre of data collection and data analysis that will form the foundation of the funding tracking tool and the Pandemic PACT team’s work.
You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small-scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will adapt and develop existing and new research methodologies and materials including conducting literature reviews and living reviews of funding data, and you will prepare working theories and analyse qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining theories as appropriate. You will also be responsible for carrying out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a related topic, such as medicine, public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, One Health, or biomedicine, together with relevant experience. You will have sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. The ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation is required. You will also have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time, with part-time hours considered, minimum 80% FTE, on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2024 and is funded by the Wellcome.
Informal enquiries about this role are encouraged and can be made to Olena.seminog@ndm.ox.ac.uk.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 11th April 2023 will be considered. Please quote 163932 on all correspondence.
