Working in a new team in the Research Strategy and Policy Unit, the Staff and Environment Data Analyst will play an important role providing data and insights to support the University’s research quality and culture.

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working, with on-site working expected 50% on average; team anchor days, when on-site working is expected, are currently Mondays and Wednesdays.

About the role

The Staff and Environment Data Analyst will support cross-institutional programmes and projects to inform understanding of research quality, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the next institutional submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The REF is a periodic UK-wide assessment of research undertaken at universities, which informs the selective allocation of government funding for research.

They will source, summarise, report, and inter-relate data relating to research-active staff and the research environment; this includes developing a dashboard of indicators to support the environment submission for the next REF, and coordinating processes for the identification of staff with significant responsibility for research.

The position is available full-time (applications to work part time at 80% FTE would be considered).

About you

To be successful in this key role, you will need advanced skills in manipulation, analysis, and interpretation of data from a range of sources, and very good IT skills with the ability to make effective use of different technologies and learn new applications and systems.

You will have excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills and the ability to deliver a high quality output to tight deadlines.

You will be an effective communicator, with proven data presentation skills and the ability to build relationships which engender trust and confidence and enable collaborative working.
