The Department
The Department of History at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the fixed term role of Teaching Fellow in Modern European History (1.0 FTE). The Role
Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Fellow (1.0 FTE) in Modern European History. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Level 2 undergraduate module ‘The Nazi Dictatorship’. They may also be asked to contribute to the Level 1 module ‘Modern Times: a Cultural History of Europe, 1860-1960’, to undertake undergraduate dissertation supervision, and to carry out other teaching duties as specified by the Head of Department.
Teaching Fellowships offer the opportunity of valuable experience to those early in their academic careers and the University is keen to maximise the benefit to as many people as possible. The post of Teaching Fellow will involve a significant teaching load, which may extend into the summer period, and there may be related scholarship and the opportunity for administrative duties which relate to education and pedagogy.
The post is for a fixed term only, and it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond this fixed term. Successful applicants will, ideally be in post by 1 September 2023, although some flexibility may be possible.
