Aston Law School’s mission is to be a distinctive law school that combines academic rigour with practical insight, for ‘future ready’ LLB and LLM graduates. We do so as The Guardian’s University of the Year 2020, with Gold TEF status, and as one of the leading universities for Entrepreneurship and Social Mobility.
We have plans for our strategic growth that involve recruitment of either a Reader or a Senior Lecturer, at grade 10, in the area of Public Law and Regulation.
The successful candidate will be involved in our degree programmes which teach a combination of ‘traditional’ law subjects alongside creative and innovative subjects that provide the academic grounding for the skills, knowledge and attributes of modern lawyers.
The role encompasses the potential for impactful research on contemporary issues and if you have an interest in pedagogical research, we will be keen to explore how we can support your continued engagement in this.
In addition to being a team player and committed to social mobility, the successful candidates will also recognise the importance of excellent student support.
Aston University is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter http://www.ecu.ac.uk/equality-charter-marks/athena-swan/ recognised by a bronze award.
We will therefore adopt an inclusive recruitment process which involves sharing interview questions with short-listed candidates in advance (with a commitment not to deviate from the subject matter of those questions); and encouraging candidates, if they wish, to attend interview with notes of their preparation. We will also provide feedback to all short-listed candidates.
This post is available to start immediately. Informal enquiries about it should be addressed to Jonathan Fortnam (Dean of Aston Law School) by email email@example.com.
