A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available within the group of Professor David Savage at the Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS), focussing on adipose tissue function/dysfunction (in the context of lipodystrophy and obesity) and its consequences, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. The group uses both cellular and animal models (particularly mice) to understand the molecular consequences of nutritional overload. They also undertake human studies, but this post will focus primarily on cellular and animal studies.
Scientists are encouraged to apply if they have substantial practical experience in cell biology and ideally in studying metabolism in live mice. Experience in handling large datasets such as proteomics and RNAseq would be very useful. Relevant experience will be an important element in selecting the postholder. The role holder will be responsible for running their own research projects and will work with a small group of post docs and PhD students who have overlapping expertise.
Major responsibilities will include:
Interview date: TBC
Proposed start date: As soon as possible
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.
Please ensure that you upload a covering letter, CV and Additional Information form in the Upload section of the online application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.
