The National Centre for Food Manufacturing (NCFM) is a major resource for the UK’s food manufacturing sector delivering skills, research, and support for innovation. A leading provider of higher-level apprenticeships, the NCFM supports nearly 400 apprentices in over 100 businesses. The NCFM is leading the development of a higher-level skills offer for the seafood processing sector to support Grimsby’s Seafood Cluster and the sector in the UK. Leadership development tailored to sector need is a key focus of the programme. Programme development is being supported by Defra’s Seafood Skills and Training Scheme. As NCFM’s seafood lead, you will work with employers to design and deliver a new higher level, tailored skills offer, help adapt NCFM’s existing skills offer and teach and support apprentices. You will also lead and nurture partnerships with employers and stakeholders across the UK.

Applications are invited from seafood industry professionals from a range of backgrounds i.e. operations, supply chain, technical and organisational development professionals with production knowledge. Significant experience of working within a senior position in the sector and a passion for advancing businesses through the development of teams and individuals are essential. Experience of apprenticeships is highly desirable. Whilst experience of teaching is desirable, it is not essential, and the role will suit an industry professional looking for a career change and an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience to benefit others.

The NCFM is a satellite campus of the University of Lincoln. The NCFM is part of the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (IoT) and has outstanding sector-focused facilities, including a state-of-the-art food factory demonstrating cutting edge food automation, a food innovation centre and  Digital Food Manufacturing Technologies Centre located on the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone. The NCFM’s Grimsby office is the base for a small but growing team focussed on serving the Seafood Sector. With provision integrated, the post holder will be a core member of NCFM’s apprenticeship team and will be required to visit Holbeach to teach or meet with colleagues on a regular basis as well as travel to meet employers.

The post is offered on a Teaching and Professional Practice contract and is not suitable for individuals seeking a research career.

Please note that this post requires a DBS check.
