The School of Applied Sciences within the College of Health, Science and Society is seeking to recruit a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science to provide leave cover to support foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical courses. This is a full-time, fixed-term (12-month) post that will focus primarily on teaching, although there may be opportunities to carry out research in the successful candidate’s specialist area.
Preference will be given to applicants who can evidence expertise in cellular pathology and histology. However, candidates with expertise in other related areas of biomedical science may also apply.
The School of Applied Sciences runs a number of BSc (Honours), MSci and MSc programmes including in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, and related areas. Research within the School is supported by the Centre for Research in Biosciences (CRIB) the Institute of Biosensing Technology (IBST) and the Science Communication Unit (SCU).About you:
Candidates will be expected to a PhD in a relevant subject. We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science to provide leave cover to support our biomedical courses. This is a full-time, fixed-term (12-month) post that will focus primarily on teaching. Preference will be given to applicants who can evidence expertise in cellular pathology and histology.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching and assessments and demonstrate the ability to lead modules and supervise student research projects. Successful candidates will be expected to be actively involved in the continuous improvement of our Biomedical programmes. The post holder may also be required to support teaching teams on other related programmes within the School.
We are looking for candidates who align to the UWE values. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they will keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
The successful candidate will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor. The School provides staff development funds to support personal and subject related training for academic staff.
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – with £300m having been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation to enhance our offer even further.
