Are you interested in working for a world top 100 University? We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Philosophy for someone with a passion for professional support looking to use their teamwork and people skills to make an impact in a higher education environment.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Student Experience Officer on an open-ended, part-time contract working 17.5 hours per week. It is expected that the working pattern will be Wednesday-Friday, but we are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities with our staff which benefit both the individual and the University.
Reporting to the Student Experience Manager, the Senior Student Experience Officer will have responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of taught programme administration at all levels across the department, including dual degrees. You will ensure delivery of a high-quality, customer-focussed service to students and staff and the timely delivery of the administrative processes which underpin core business functions throughout the student journey. This includes internal and external communications, registrations, assessment, teaching delivery and timetables, pastoral care, quality assurance, the management of module and programme information, and student events.
With previous experience of working in a busy office environment, you will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide accurate and comprehensive information to both students and staff members. You will have experience of working in and contributing to a diverse team, managing a complex workload independently and have a high-level of attention to detail. You will also have experience of, and aptitude for, working with Microsoft Office and Google software. You must be able to motivate, organise and provide guidance to develop the skills of others and be able to deputise for the Student Experience Manager as appropriate.
The Department of Philosophy has 20 members of academic staff, 8 members of professional services staff and around 500 students, both single and dual honours across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework our outputs were ranked 2nd in the UK. We are home to the Hang Seng Centre for Cognitive Science, the Centre for Engaged Philosophy and the Centre for the History of Philosophy (alongside York and Leeds). To underpin its academic work, the Department has a Professional Service team providing a core administrative service across all our teaching and research activities. Our website offers more information about all aspects of the department’s activity: www.sheffield.ac.uk/philosophy
We are one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
