About the role

The Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy at UCL is seeking to fill a fixed term leave cover position, Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Qualitative Methods.

The salary will be on the UCL Grade 7 scale, £43,792 - £47,355 (inclusive of London Allowance).

This is a full-time fixed term leave cover appointment covering from 1st September 2023 to 31st Aug 2024.

The Associate Lecturer (Teaching) will contribute to teaching three qualitative methods modules:

  • PUBL0086 (PGT, Term 1) Qualitative Methods: Case Studies and Comparative Methods.
  • PUBL0010 (PGT, Term 2) Qualitative Methods: Interviews, Observations and Mixed Methods
  • POLS0031 (UG, Term 2) Qualitative Research Methods

The role also includes an allocation of time for research and professional development.

About you

The successful candidate must have a PhD in political science or related subject, or current enrolment in a PhD programme in Political Science, or related subject, experienced in advising students on their essays and providing constructive feedback on written work.

Evidence of high-quality academic research in a relevant field, teaching relevant subjects at the UG OR PGT level and quality assurance procedures associated with university teaching.

Enhanced by knowledge of relevant academic literature, clear communication skills, with a flexible approach, independently and as part of a team are essential.

Responding constructively, listening and supporting with compassion as well as anticipating issues to adjust processes where necessary will also be key to this position
