We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Directorate, reporting to the Director of Finance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University to lead on continued development of management information reporting; and the financial planning to support the delivery of the academic mission. We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and highly motivated individual who can provide professional leadership on all aspects of University-wide financial management information to inform fact-based decision making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead all College level financial processes to include month-end close, reporting, planning, budgeting & forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Act as the finance link between the college and central university finance
  • Key finance contact for college, offering finance business partnering support to Heads of Department, College Executive Dean; including constructively challenging the status quo
  • Support college in strategy development and execution, ensuring financials are well understood.
  • Continuously review and enhance the quality of all finance activities across the college and central processes to drive continuous improvement in ways of working.

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be confident, and proactive with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. A driven individual who strives to deliver process improvements, has excellent communication skills with attention to detail; able to work flexibly and to deadline.

  • Qualified accountant with sound academic background and logical career progression.
  • Strong business partnering experience, proven track record in a similar sized organisation.
  • Higher education or not for profit sector experience (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to develop effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
  • High level of energy; able to bring financials to life and translate financial information to meaningful information for non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to energize and influence a wide spectrum of people, including senior financial and operational professionals.
  • Good knowledge of technology – Excel (essential), Power BI (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • An enquiring mind with the confidence to ask questions and challenge the status quo
  • Hybrid working – required to be on campus at least 3 days per week, up to 2 days per week working from home.
