Film Studies at King’s College London seeks to appoint an Academic Education Path (AEP) Lecturer post in Film & Media Practice. We are seeking an outstanding candidate who wishes to advance excellent and innovative education to take up this full-time open-ended Academic Education Pathway (AEP) post. Candidates will need to demonstrate both academic teaching, scholarship and enquiry and practitioner experience, enabling students to bridge theory and practice. The successful candidate will teach existing practice modules and contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate Film Studies curricula by convening, and building on, existing modules such as Introduction to Curatorial and Creative Media Practice, Introduction to Filmmaking, Digital Video Practice, and Critical Media Practice. The successful applicant will be a well organised, enthusiastic and inspiring educator with excellent interpersonal communication skills. They will be collegial and capable of working as part of a dynamic team, developing and leading the education of practice in a new, innovative direction within the Department of Film Studies and the Faculty of Arts & Humanities more generally.
The successful candidate will have considerable and proven experience in film/digital video production and professional, technical skills in using a variety of cameras and editing programmes. Candidates should possess the ability to teach these skills to industry standards. Experience of digital video/film production as an industry film professional, independent filmmaker or media content creator/curator would be an asset but experience of teaching in a higher education context is essential. In addition, candidates should possess a strong understanding of the contemporary film and media industry and a general knowledge of contemporary historical, critical and/or theoretical issues in film and media studies

The post requires relevant experience of teaching and assessment in Higher Education, a commitment to student learning and welfare, and an aptitude for working within an interdisciplinary framework. Candidates with significant research outputs and profile, but with limited evidence of excellence in their educational practice and knowledge of innovative pedagogic practice and scholarship are unlikely to be shortlisted. This is an education-focused appointment and candidates will be expected to evidence attainment and potential in teaching and learning within an HE context.
