This is an exciting new position to support the design and implementation of the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP). This role will be fundamental in enabling us to deliver our commitments to ensure all students, regardless of their characteristics or background, can access and succeed at Loughborough University. Based within Marketing & Advancement, the role will involve interaction with a wide range of colleagues across the University, and the development of close relationships with those working in outreach, student support, planning and careers teams.
You will make a proactive contribution to building the evidence base and engaging with sector policy and the latest research, internally and externally, to understand the risks to equality of opportunity for the access, retention, success and progression of students from underrepresented groups. Central to this post is the delivery of the APP Evaluation Strategy and projects linked to high profile access and participation initiatives.
You should have experience of using research and evaluation findings to make strategic recommendations as well as good analytical skills and the ability to inspire colleagues to embrace evaluation. Previous experience of project management and of developing and implementing impact evaluation processes and frameworks is required.
Whilst experience of working within the widening participation and student success sector is advantageous, we will also consider candidates who have a keen empathy for this agenda and an understanding of the regulatory requirements.
The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. Our superb Loughborough campus, based in the heart of England, is friendly and relaxed and has fantastic facilities and plenty of green open space. As a full-time member of staff you would be entitled to 30 days leave per year and will also receive 14 bank holiday and concessionary days.
Our University is positive, where possible, of flexible working – you can find out more here.
We have introduced dynamic working and will consider a combination of working on campus and remotely. Please note that there is a general expectation that the successful candidate will spend the majority of time working on the Loughborough campus (further information is available here).
We welcome applications from all candidates with an interest in the role and who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment. We encourage candidates to apply irrespective of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion and belief, gender identity, sex, or sexual orientation.
You must complete the application form and evidence the essential criteria required for the role in the job description person specification. In some cases, the recruiting panel may also consider the desirable criteria. All information should be included in the online application form itself and any accompanying CVs will not be considered in the shortlisting process. Interviews will take place in-person on the Loughborough University campus.
For informal enquiries regarding the post please contact Mandy Crow, Access and Participation Manager (m.crow@lboro.ac.uk).
Closing date: Midnight Sunday 16 April 2023
