WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick. We are looking for someone to join us as Research Fellow, to work on the development and application of next generation battery Li-ion battery cathodes discovery with advanced electrochemistry, microscopy and X-ray characterization. WMG have made significant investments in advanced characterization, including novel in-house X-ray absorption and PFIB-cryo electron microscopy, to complement the materials synthesis laboratory and battery pilot line. Interest areas include Ni-rich, single crystalline and lithium excess. Candidates would would be supervised by Professor of Battery Innovation Louis Piper at WMG. The planned projects would complement existing and future multi-disciplinary battery studies with both industry partners and Faraday Institution projects at WMG.
Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD in Solid State Chemistry or related disciplines (Physics or Materials Science) with experience of working in multi-disciplinary collaborative projects on next generation battery materials and cells. Applicants with experience of materials synthesis/characterization, such in-situ/operando X-ray diffraction/absorption (or related techniques) at Synchrotron facilities are desired, along with those will experience of battery material synthesis, cell manufacturing and testing. As part of the development and application of these capabilities the candidate will be expected to train personnel in performing measurements and analysis.
In return we will provide a great range of benefits which include an attractive pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas closure, some fantastic savings on a wide range of products and services, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
