This is an exciting opportunity for doctors in specialist training with research experience who would like to pursue an academic career in ophthalmology or medical ophthalmology, specifically in ocular inflammation and imaging. The Department of Eye and Vision Science (DEVS) has an internationally-acclaimed track record of research in ophthalmic imaging across subspecialities including uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, AMD, infectious retinitis and cornea. The department is a leading centre for the development of image processing and AI image analysis in ophthalmology, hosting the Centre for image analysis and AI in healthcare. We also work together with the Liverpool Ophthalmic Reading Centre (part of the UK Network of Ophthalmic Reading Centres). Ophthalmic inflammation, particularly uveitis research, is a strategic priority of DEVS linking with research in inflammation across departments in the university and the Liverpool Research Eye Bank.
